2028 Canadian Polar Bear Migration Photography Expedition
The Canadian Polar Bear Migration is an extraordinary wildlife event. After highly successful and productive seasons, I am once again teaming up with renowned wildlife photographer Marc Latremouille for a private Polar Bear Photography Expedition in Churchill, Canada. We’ve scheduled this trip for November 14–20, 2028—precisely when polar bear activity peaks. As the sea ice begins to form, more bears move in and their behavior becomes increasingly active and dynamic, offering exceptional photographic opportunities rarely seen earlier in the season.
This is the prime window—more bears, more movement, more action as they anticipate the freeze-up. In the past, this week has recorded a high of 31 different bears in a single day. Along with polar bears, we also hope to photographed Arctic Fox, Snowy Owl, Willow Ptarmigan and Arctic Hare.

Why This Trip Stands Out
Unlike typical tundra-buggy tours, where you photograph from above, we’ll shoot polar bears on the ground, at eye level. We’ll explore in two comfortable vans, each driven by an expert local guide, ensuring plenty of room. As conditions allow, we’ll step outside to capture intimate, ground-level shots—always under safe, guided supervision. This perspective elevates your images into something truly unique. It is also an unforgettable experience to be on the ground with these incredible bears.
We’ll be staying at a comfortable lodge, strategically located just 10 minutes from Churchill along the polar bears’ migration route. Each day, we’ll head out in search of polar bears on and near the shores of Hudson Bay. Our guide will place us in the best positions possible to photograph these mighty creatures in their natural habitat.
What’s Included:
Airport transfers in Churchill, comfortable lodging, daily breakfast, polar bear vans and expert guide, personalized photography guidance from Marc and me, and evening workflow assistance with Cindy.
What’s Not Included:
Flights to/from Winnipeg and Winnipeg–Churchill, lunches and dinners.
Our Daily Itinerary
• Continental breakfast
• Morning photography session with the bears
• Super-quick lunch in town or at the lodge
• Afternoon photography session back in the field
• Evenings to download and review the day’s work
Caveat: Once the sea ice fully freezes, the bears leave Churchill to hunt seals. Historically, this occurs sometime after November 20. While our chosen week is considered prime time for bear activity, there is a slight risk the freeze could happen earlier, in which case the bears would have already departed. If that occurs, we will shift our focus to photographing Arctic foxes, hares, ptarmigan, snowy owls, and possibly wolves.
Exclusive Post-Workshop Reunion
As an added bonus, every photo workshop includes a private Zoom reunion. This is far more than a casual check-in—it’s a chance to reconnect with your fellow travelers, share your ten favorite images, and receive thoughtful critique. The deadline to select and present your images provides the perfect push to complete your editing workflow, while the process of narrowing down to ten becomes an invaluable editing exercise in itself. Participants often call these reunions a highlight—like reliving the best moments, only this time with friends for life.
Cancellation Policy
Due to the significant financial commitments required for this custom workshop, including private charter flights and exclusive lodges, all payments (including deposits) are non-refundable. Travel insurance is strongly recommended. “Cancel for any reason” insurance generally must be purchased within 14 days of making your deposit. This is a helpful site for comparing travel insurance plans.
